Dustin Rice
Dustin Rice, a junior at Michigan State University studying International Relations, represented the next generation of individuals who will carry on the legacy of the Greatest Generation.
When Dustin was 14 years old he went on an Honor Flight Michigan trip to escort WWII veterans to Washington D.C. to see their national memorial. Since then he has acquired an impressive collection of WWII memorabilia which he has formally displayed at American Legion Posts on Veterans Day.
His love of country and his respect for our veterans began early and is sure to continue throughout his life.
Dustin read read excerpts from Japanese emperor Hirohito’s Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the War announcing Japan’s unconditional surrender, broadcast to the people of Japan August 15, 1945.
Already a keen observer of international affairs, Dustin began his reading by remarking on the changes in relations between the United States and Japan in the past 70 years.
