On Tuesday, February 5, 2013, the Michigan Senate passed Senate Resolution 13 and The Michigan House of Representatives passed Resolution 21 officially recognizing The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial as “the state’s tribute to Michigan’s contributions during the Second World War.”
The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial thanks The Honorable John Pappageorge, Michigan Senate, 13th District and The Honorable Jim Townsend Michigan House of Representatives, 26th District for their sponsorship of these resolutions.
On Saturday, March 16, 2013, Governor Rick Snyder signed a Special Tribute endorsing the recognition provided by the legislature.
